NAGELFAR
The picture here shows the last known line-up (left to right): Zorn, Meilenwald, Zingultus.
Since three of the songs that appeared on Srontgorrth were re-recordings of previously released tracks, the band doesn't consider it to be a regular album, and refers to Virus West as being their second album. They have the unofficial rehearsals, which have never been available to the public: "Garzweiler II" and "Ragnaroek". This Nagelfar is often confused with their Swedish Black Metal colleagues, Naglfar (without the "E"). While both names have a similar meaning (i.e. the ship of Death from Scandinavian Mythology), the musical direction of the bands differ more from each other. The history surrounding the German band is rather vague, although it's clear that they were founded in 1993 by Zorn and Meilenwald. It took until 1995 to get a stable line-up, by addition of Hackelnberg on bass and Jander on vocals. Together they recorded 2 demos and a split EP, as well as the 2 full length albums Hünengrab Im Herbst and Srontgorrth. With the release of Srontgorrth they lost Hackelnberg and Jander. Soon Zingultus was found for vocal duties, but the band never found a bass player. On Virus West, Zorn and Meilenwald were forced to handled bass duties. To date, this release is the last official one by Nagelfar. NAGELFAR items we have:
